Well, we've been a little out of
touch lately, so we thought it was high time for an update.
As many of you know, we've been very busy in recent months
getting our new home staging business, The Alluring Home
(www.thealluringhome.com),
up and running. It's been a huge undertaking, but we are
well on our way!
We also have the exciting (for
us, anyway) announcement that, as of January 31, 2008, we are
the proud new homeowners of 1902 Quail Run Road NE! It
proved to be quite a stressful transaction and we are very happy
to have that over with! We will still be residing here in
the Duke City, and will be moving to our new home on the
opposite side of town in the foothills of the Sandia Mountains
sometime before the end of March. The new house is a
2-bedroom/2-bath, 1450-square-foot-vaguely southwest-style home
in an established neighborhood in a well-regarded part of town.
It was built in the early to mid-80s and was probably quite
modern at that time. We love the overall structure of the
house, especially the vaulted ceilings (tongue-and-groove),
clerestory windows, mountain views and open floor plan but,
while it is in relatively good condition, the house has some
rather 'vintage' aspects to it that we are currently in the
planning stages of getting rid of. Scott has already
completed his first project (and single-handedly, at that!) of
installing recessed lighting in the (very dimly lit) 2nd
bedroom, which will be our office. He craftily used his
favorite all-purpose tool, a wire coat hanger (see
other uses), to get the job done. Kudos to Scott (aka
MacGuyver)!
Our first major project
involves reconfiguring the space that is currently the master
suite (incl. walk-in closet) and hallway, which includes a
laundry closet and linen closet. Although we plan to do
much of the finish work ourselves to keep costs down, we are
working with an architect this time, which should make things a
bit easier than they have been in the past.

Driving down our street...that's our house at the end that looks
like a giant garage! The house extends quite a ways off to
the left behind the trees.
