Winter... I Mean, Fall in Michigan

10/20/06 - Dexter, MI

Early cold weather this year confirms why we left this godforsaken state

This is ridiculous... I mean, c'mon, really!  Snow on October 12th?  We haven't seen the sun yet in the week we've been here.  The winter doldrums are setting in - in the middle of October!

We occupy our time looking for cold weather clothes and winter hats, and of course we're on constant baby-watch.  If you've talked to us in the last 4 or 5 months, you're well aware that we have a nephew on the way who should be born at any second now.  He seems to be a bit of a recluse, not coming out to visit his aunt & uncle.  We've heard that walking speeds along labor, so we tried to help out by taking Caroline's sister Jen out for a nice long walk over at the Yates Cider Mill in Rochester.  She's still refusing to take our suggestion to do jumping jacks, choosing to listen to the so called 'medical experts' instead.  By the way, Yates has best caramel apples in the world, if you're ever in the neighborhood.  We do enjoy fall - the crisp air, the autumnal light, the foliage (love that word)...  if only it were about 20 degrees warmer.

Scott seems shocked... perhaps nervous that his sister-in-law will go in to labor on the drive home?
