After a day spent
waiting for a plumber to fix a clogged toilet (our only toilet,
mind you) and dealing with an ant "situation," we are feeling
very settled in at our condo rental. We are apparently
making up for all our travel stresses of the past 4 months (our
four-month anniversary of leaving SF was March 22!) by doing
absolutely nothing! Hey, but those hours spent lounging at
the pool everyday are very therapeutic...
We're just trying to
wait out the HUGE crowds of Mexicans and Americans/Canadians
alike who are all in town for the Easter/spring break holidays
before we actually try to do anything touristy. It really
is a mad house and is best to avoid the beach for a bit 'til all
the craziness dies down. Those who couldn't afford or find
a hotel are camping on the beach and in their cars. It's crazy!
But it's relatively sane at our peaceful little oasis up the
hill.
We did have the
pleasure of visiting with friends Erin McCune and Nick Virene on
Friday afternoon at their hotel not far from our condo (just a
brief walk down the beach) and again last night for sunset
drinks on the beach followed by a tasty steak dinner at the very
popular Cafe de Olla. Erin is here from SF for the week
visiting Nick, who is here on a sailboat and will be leaving for
the Baja and then sailing on to Hawaii before too long.
Like us, he too decided work was overrated and left SF in
November for a life on the high seas. It was really great
to hang out and catch up with friends. Thanks, you guys!
We have to have you over for (more) sunset drinks before you
leave! |
